willowherbs
Pink wildflower spikes
Willowherbs are flowering plants with narrow, willow-like leaves and pink or purple blossoms, common in meadows and disturbed ground.
The most familiar is fireweed, which colonizes burned areas.
Several species are considered weeds in gardens: The willowherbs have taken over the back fence.
