wildfire containment
Limiting forest flames
Wildfire containment is the effort to stop a fire from spreading beyond established boundaries.
Firefighters create containment lines—cleared or treated areas the fire cannot cross—and measure progress as a percentage: The blaze is now 60 percent contained.
Full containment means the fire's perimeter is completely controlled, though the fire may still burn within those boundaries.
