where

Seeking a place

Where is mainly an adverb but it can be used as a conjunction to introduce a clause that identifies a place, and by extension, a situation, position, direction, or circumstances: Do you know where the library is? I can’t figure out where he’s going with this proposal. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.

Where is sometimes used informally in sentences to introduce a standard subordinate “that” clause after a verb of perception: I heard where they’d decided not to move after all.
