werebeasts
Humans becoming animals
Werebeasts are shapeshifters from folklore and fantasy who transform between human and animal forms, typically during a full moon or under stress.
The werewolf is the most familiar example, but the concept extends to any animal: werebears, weretigers, wererats.
The campaign featured a village terrorized by werebeasts.
The prefix were- comes from an Old English word for man.
