wererat

Lycanthropic rodent creature

A wererat is a fictional creature that transforms between human and rat form, appearing in fantasy games, folklore, and horror fiction.

Like the werewolf but smaller and sneakier, wererats often inhabit sewers or urban underworlds: The thieves' guild was run by a pack of wererats.

The word follows the pattern of werewolf, where "were" comes from an Old English word for man.
