weak-side
Away from strength
Weak-side refers to the side of the playing field or court away from where the ball or primary action is located.
In basketball, a weak-side defender helps cover teammates or rotates to stop drives: He crashed in from the weak side for the block.
In football, it's the side with fewer offensive players, opposite the tight end.
The term contrasts with strong-side.
