wave functions
Probability amplitude descriptions
A wave function is a mathematical description of a quantum system, expressing the probability of finding a particle in a particular state or location.
The wave function doesn't say where something *is*—it describes where it *might* be, with what likelihood.
Measuring the system "collapses" the wave function to a definite state.
The wave function of an electron spread across the entire atom.
