waterboardings
Repeated submersion torture
Waterboardings is the plural of waterboarding, an interrogation technique that simulates drowning.
The subject is restrained while water is poured over their face, creating the sensation of suffocation.
Though classified as torture under international law, it was used by the CIA on terrorism suspects after 2001: The Senate report documented multiple waterboardings of detainees.
