water tube

Hollow fluid channel

A water tube is a tube designed to carry water, especially in boilers where water flows through tubes surrounded by hot gases—the opposite of fire-tube designs where hot gases pass through tubes surrounded by water.

Water-tube boilers handle higher pressures and are standard in power plants and large ships.

The term also applies to tubes in other water-circulation systems.
