warped wood
Curved, unusable planks
Warped wood is lumber that has bent, twisted, or curved away from flat during drying or from exposure to moisture.
The grain pulls unevenly as water content changes, causing boards to cup, bow, or spiral.
Carpenters reject badly warped wood or use techniques to flatten it: That warped wood won't work for the tabletop.
