war-work
Wartime production efforts
War-work is labor performed in support of a military effort—manufacturing weapons and equipment, producing supplies, or other essential services during wartime.
The term was especially common during the World Wars, when civilian populations mobilized for industrial production: Women entered factories for war-work while men were at the front.
