voom

Sound of speed

Voom is an exclamation evoking sudden speed, energy, or explosive force—the sound of something moving fast or springing into action: The car went voom and disappeared down the highway.

Often doubled for emphasis: voom voom.

The word suggests vitality and power, as in the Monty Python sketch where a dead parrot is sarcastically praised: This parrot would voom if you put four million volts through it.
