virtual race
Remote running event
A virtual race is a running, cycling, or other athletic event where participants complete the distance on their own time and location rather than gathering at a single venue.
Runners log their times through apps or GPS devices and often receive medals by mail.
Virtual races grew popular during pandemic restrictions: I signed up for a virtual 5K to stay motivated.
