venetian blind
Adjustable slat covering
A venetian blind is a window covering made of horizontal slats—typically wood, plastic, or metal—that can be tilted to control light and privacy, or raised and lowered by pulling cords.
The slats overlap when closed and separate when tilted open, allowing adjustable amounts of light to enter.
She adjusted the venetian blinds to let in the morning sun.
The design supposedly originated in Venice, though this attribution is disputed.
