vaudeville act
Variety show segment
A vaudeville act is a single performance segment within a vaudeville show—the variety entertainment popular in American theaters from the 1880s through the 1930s.
Each act might be comedy, song, dance, magic, acrobatics, or trained animals, typically lasting ten to twenty minutes.
The term now evokes old-fashioned theatrical entertainment: Their comedy routine felt like a vaudeville act.
