Netflix special
Comedian's streaming showcase
A Netflix special is a stand-up comedy performance produced for or distributed by Netflix, typically featuring a single comedian performing a full set.
The format has become so dominant in comedy that "Netflix special" now functions as shorthand for any major streaming comedy special: Every comedian dreams of getting a Netflix special.
Having one signals career success, while the sheer volume has made them a punchline about oversaturation.
