usherettes
Female cinema staff
Usherettes are female ushers—workers who guide patrons to their seats in theaters, cinemas, or other venues.
The term was common in the mid-20th century when movie palaces employed uniformed young women to escort audiences with flashlights: The usherette showed us to our seats in the balcony.
Now old-fashioned, as usher serves for all genders.
