urban green space
Metropolitan natural area
Urban green space refers to areas of vegetation within cities—parks, gardens, tree-lined streets, and other planted zones amid the built environment.
These spaces serve both recreational and ecological functions: The city invested in urban green space to combat heat islands.
Urban planners increasingly recognize their role in public health and livability.
