toxic site
Polluted dangerous area
A toxic site is a location contaminated by hazardous substances—industrial chemicals, heavy metals, or other pollutants that pose risks to human health or the environment.
The term often refers to former industrial facilities, waste dumps, or areas affected by chemical spills: The factory was declared a toxic site after soil testing.
In the U.S., severely contaminated locations may be designated Superfund sites, qualifying for federal cleanup funding.
