unthroning
Ousting a monarch
Unthroning is removing someone from a throne or position of power—deposing a monarch or toppling whoever holds supreme authority.
The word works literally for royalty and figuratively for anyone dominant in their field: The young boxer dreams of unthroning the champion.
Less common than dethroning, which carries the same meaning.
