university system
Collegiate institutional federation
A university system is a group of universities administered together under unified governance, typically sharing resources, policies, and branding while maintaining distinct campuses: the University of California system, the State University of New York system.
Individual schools within a system often have different specializations or admission standards.
The term also describes higher education structures at the national level: the German university system.
