underinflates
Leaves too soft
Underinflates means to inflate something less than the recommended or optimal amount.
The term applies most often to tires: The mechanic discovered someone had underinflated all four tires.
Underinflated tires wear unevenly, reduce fuel efficiency, and can be dangerous.
The word also appears in economic contexts where figures are deliberately understated: The report underinflates the true cost of the project.
