underbidder
Lost the auction
An underbidder is someone who makes a bid lower than another's, especially the second-highest bidder at an auction: The painting went to a phone bidder, with the underbidder in the room.
In contracting, an underbidder may offer to do work for less than competitors, sometimes dangerously so.
