consignor
Entrusts for delivery
A consignor is a person or business that sends goods to another party for sale, storage, or shipment.
In consignment arrangements, the consignor retains ownership until the goods are sold: The consignor receives payment only after the gallery sells the artwork.
In shipping, the consignor is the sender, as opposed to the consignee who receives.
