underadjustment

Not enough calibration

Underadjustment is insufficient correction or modification—falling short of the change needed.

In statistics and psychology, it describes failing to revise an initial estimate enough when new information arrives: The forecast showed underadjustment for inflation.

Mechanical contexts use it for calibrations that don't go far enough: The underadjustment of the thermostat left the room too cold.
