unblinded

No longer sightless

Unblinded describes a study participant or researcher who knows which treatment is being administered—the opposite of blinded, where such information is concealed to prevent bias.

In clinical trials, researchers may become unblinded when side effects reveal who received the active drug: The distinctive rash unblinded several patients in the trial.

Outside research contexts, unblinded can mean having one's eyes opened to truth: She was unblinded to his deception.
