Ultra light describes something extremely lightweight, often at the boundary of what's practical for its purpose.
The term appears most often in outdoor gear and aviation: an ultra light backpack minimizes pack weight for hikers, while an ultra light aircraft is a small, simple plane subject to minimal regulation.
Also spelled ultralight, especially for the aircraft.
