twiddles

Spins without purpose

Twiddles is the third-person singular of twiddle, meaning to turn or manipulate something idly with the fingers: She twiddles her hair when she's nervous.

To twiddle your thumbs is to rotate them around each other while waiting—and by extension, to have nothing useful to do.

Twiddles can also be small adjustments: a few twiddles of the knob.
