troll army
State-sponsored online agitators
A troll army is a coordinated group of online accounts, often anonymous or pseudonymous, that floods social media platforms, comment sections, or forums with disruptive, inflammatory, or propagandistic content.
These operations may be state-sponsored, as in campaigns to influence foreign elections or shape public opinion, or they may serve commercial or ideological interests.
The "army" metaphor captures both the organized nature of these efforts and their aggressive, overwhelming tactics.
The investigation revealed a troll army operating out of St. Petersburg.
