trickle-down economics
Top-benefits-spread theory
Trickle-down economics is the theory that tax cuts and other benefits for corporations and the wealthy will ultimately benefit everyone, as prosperity "trickles down" through increased investment and job creation.
Critics use the term dismissively, arguing the wealth stays at the top: Forty years of trickle-down economics hasn't helped the middle class.
Proponents prefer "supply-side economics."
