tree fork
Limb division point
A tree fork is the point where a trunk divides into branches, or where a branch splits into smaller branches.
The V-shaped or Y-shaped junction creates a natural crotch in the wood.
Tree forks are structurally significant—weak forks may split under stress, while strong ones support heavy limbs for decades.
