trademark symbol
Unregistered ownership indicator
The trademark symbol (™) indicates that a word, phrase, or logo is being claimed as a trademark, whether or not it has been officially registered.
It appears as a superscript after the mark: Band-Aid™.
Unlike the registered trademark symbol (®), which requires formal registration, anyone can use ™ to assert trademark rights.
The symbol warns competitors that the owner considers the mark proprietary.
