traded in
Swapped for newer
Traded in describes exchanging something you own, typically as partial payment toward something new.
The phrase appears most often with vehicles: I traded in my old Honda for a newer model.
It can also apply to other durable goods or, figuratively, to abandoning one thing for another: She traded in her corporate career for a life on the farm.
The past tense traded in implies the transaction is complete.
