cashed out

Took the money

Cashed out means converted to cash and withdrawn, especially from an investment, retirement account, or gambling session: He cashed out his 401k early and took the penalty.

In poker and casinos, cashing out is exchanging chips for money when you're done playing.

Figuratively, someone who has cashed out has exited a situation, often after securing gains: She cashed out of the startup before it collapsed.
