touch tank
Hands-on sea exhibit
A touch tank is a shallow aquarium at zoos, aquariums, or nature centers where visitors can reach in and handle marine creatures—typically starfish, sea urchins, hermit crabs, and other tide pool animals.
The tanks are designed for hands-on education, especially for children: The kids spent an hour at the touch tank feeling the sea anemones.
