torch parade
Flames in motion
A torch parade is a nighttime procession in which participants carry lit torches or flaming brands.
Historically associated with political rallies, celebrations, and ceremonial events, torch parades create dramatic visual spectacle through massed firelight.
In modern contexts, they carry ominous associations with fascist movements and white supremacist gatherings: The torch parade through Charlottesville shocked many Americans.
