tobacco plantation
Cigarette crop estate
A tobacco plantation is a large farm dedicated to growing tobacco, historically associated with the American South and Caribbean where enslaved Africans provided the labor force.
The term evokes the antebellum economy built on cash crops and human bondage: The old tobacco plantation has been converted into a museum.
Modern tobacco farming rarely uses the word plantation.
