slave labor
Unpaid coerced toil
Slave labor is work performed by people held in bondage—historically by enslaved persons, now by victims of human trafficking or forced labor.
The term extends to any work performed under extreme coercion or for unconscionably low pay: They're paying slave labor wages at that factory.
It also describes grueling, uncompensated effort: Writing this thesis has been slave labor.
