tip up
Raise one end
A tip up is a device used in ice fishing that signals when a fish takes the bait.
It sits over a hole in the ice and raises a flag when the line is pulled, letting anglers monitor multiple holes at once: We set out six tip ups across the lake.
As a verb phrase, to tip up means to tilt upward or overturn: The canoe tipped up in the rapids.
