time-lock
Scheduled opening mechanism
A time-lock is a mechanism that prevents a safe, vault, or container from being opened until a preset time has elapsed.
Bank vaults traditionally use time-locks to prevent robbery—even employees with the combination cannot open them outside scheduled hours.
The concept extends to digital contexts: cryptocurrency time-locks prevent transactions until specified conditions are met, and some apps let users time-lock distracting websites.
