tide mark
High water line
A tide mark is a line left on a surface showing where water reached its highest point, whether from ocean tides on rocks and piers or from bathwater on a tub.
The term extends to any visible boundary left by receding liquid or dirt—the ring around an unwashed collar, the stain line on a flood-damaged wall.
