the web
Global information network
The web is a shortened form of the World Wide Web, the system of interconnected pages and resources accessible via the Internet through browsers.
People speak of finding something on the web or searching the web for information.
While technically the web is just one service that runs on the Internet, in casual usage the terms are often treated as interchangeable.
The web has become so central to modern life that it functions as shorthand for online activity generally.
