Infamous California highway
The 405 is the Interstate 405 freeway in Southern California, a notoriously congested highway that loops through Los Angeles, connecting the San Fernando Valley to the Westside and South Bay.
In LA parlance, freeways take the definite article: I'll take the 405 to the 10.
The 405 has become shorthand for LA traffic frustration: I'm stuck on the 405 needs no further explanation to Angelenos.
