tenders

Presents for acceptance

Tenders are strips of chicken breast meat, breaded and fried or baked: chicken tenders with honey mustard.

The name refers to the tenderloin portion, though commercial tenders may be any breast meat.

Beyond food, tenders are formal offers—especially bids submitted in response to a request: The company submitted tenders for the construction project.

A tender is also a small boat that services a larger vessel, or a railcar carrying fuel and water for a steam locomotive.
