temporary orders
Short-term legal mandates
Temporary orders are court rulings that remain in effect only until a final judgment is issued or a specified event occurs.
In family law, temporary orders commonly address custody, child support, or spousal support while divorce proceedings are pending: The judge issued temporary orders granting her primary custody until the trial.
They provide interim structure when parties can't wait months or years for permanent resolution.
