television archives
Stored TV recordings
Television archives are collections of recorded broadcasts, programs, and related materials preserved for historical, cultural, or commercial purposes.
Networks, libraries, and institutions maintain archives for research, rebroadcasting, and licensing.
Much early television was broadcast live and never recorded, making surviving footage from that era especially valuable.
Researchers spent weeks in the BBC television archives.
