telecourse
Distance learning broadcast
A telecourse is a course of study conducted primarily through television broadcasts or video recordings rather than in-person classroom instruction.
Popular in the late twentieth century before online learning became widespread, telecourses allowed students to watch lectures at home and complete assignments by mail or at testing centers.
She earned college credits through a telecourse while working full-time.
The format has largely been superseded by internet-based distance education.
