taking care

Handling with attention

Taking care covers two related senses.

One is looking after someone or something—attending to needs, providing for, or protecting: She's taking care of her elderly mother, I'll take care of the dog while you're away.

The other is handling or dealing with a matter: Don't worry, I'm taking care of it.

In certain contexts, taking care of someone carries a sinister euphemistic meaning—killing them.
