tag and release
Catch, mark, liberate
Tag and release is a conservation practice where researchers capture wild animals, attach identifying markers, and return them to their habitat.
The method tracks migration patterns, population health, and survival rates without permanently removing animals from the wild.
Most common in fisheries management: We practice tag and release on all trout under sixteen inches.
Also called catch and release when tagging isn't involved.
