museum collection
Archived institutional artifacts
A museum collection is the body of objects, artworks, specimens, or artifacts that a museum acquires, preserves, and displays.
The term covers both the entire holdings of an institution and specific groupings within it: the museum's permanent collection, the Asian art collection.
Collections may be built through purchase, donation, or fieldwork, and form the core of a museum's identity and mission.
